Off-the beaten track
My objective during this tour is to show you the striking contrast between the Côte d’Azur shoreline and the hinterland which is just an hour-drive away! We will go from sea level to over 2,000 feet through spectacular countryside.
Along the way, we will stop at several of the most stunning viewpoints of the whole Côte d’Azur, including panoramic views over Nice, Villefranche-sur- Mer and Monaco. I’ll point out the various towns, cities and villages you are looking at up and down the coastline, from well into the Italian border, all the way to St. Tropez and even sometimes to Corsica, 95 nautical miles away.
En route to the hinterland we will discover the Vallée de la Roya , a green valley constantly oscillating between France and Italy
Picnic Chic at Col de Brouis (mountain pass) amidst a breathtaking, over a valley that links France to Italy.
You will enjoy the various tastes of the Niçois Cuisine comfortably seated around a nicely laid table
See “Pic nic” section for the menu
We will visit the medieval walled village of Sospel. Sospel was an important village in WWII and is part of the famous Maginot line.
Just outside Sospel, we will visit an organic olive farmer, Frederic and Carla. They are the 3rd generation running the family olive farm. Frederic will explain how they harvest and process the olives into oil, tapenade and jam (they have their own mill). You can purchase some of their products onsite.
